Our alpaca walks in Devon take place across the beautiful grounds at Compton Pool, offering a calm and hands-on experience led at the alpacas’ pace.
At Compton Pool, alpaca walks are designed to be unhurried and personal. Guests are invited to stroll alongside our alpacas as they explore the estate, learning about their personalities, behaviour and daily life along the way.
The walks take place through our ancient wetland meadow and surrounding countryside, creating a peaceful setting that feels immersive and far removed from busy attractions or scheduled activities.
Straight Outta Compton Pool
Alpaca walks at Compton Pool are led by our two resident boys. Snoop and Ice, collectively known as AWA: Alpacas With Attitude. Alpacas are highly social animals and must stay together at all times, so walks always include all three, moving as a relaxed little herd through the countryside.

Each alpaca has their own personality, which quickly becomes part of the fun. Guests enjoy getting to know who’s confident, who’s curious and who prefers to take things at their own pace. Walking Snoop and Ice is as much about connection and character as it is about the countryside itself.
The pace is gentle and unhurried, with plenty of time for photos, questions and simply enjoying being outdoors with these calm, charismatic animals. It’s a shared experience that feels personal, memorable and a little bit different — and one that perfectly captures the laid-back, playful spirit of Compton Pool.
