We have just returned from our 2nd visit to Compton Pool Farm. Having previously stayed in Crazy Well Cottage when we visited about 5 years ago, we stayed in the Arch Cottage this time. We enjoyed the same high standard of accommodation we experienced last time. One can clearly see that these cottages and grounds are well loved and well looked after. The Arch Cottage is very clean and spacious downstairs. The kitchen is well equipped and the beds are comfy. Overall the cottage is charming. The pool is great for one to unwind after days out. The setting of Compton Pool Farm is excellent - whether your kids are small or teenagers you'll definitely find something to do, all within 30 mins drive. Torquay is about 20 mins drive and the coastal walks are amazing. For smaller kids, Compton Pool Farm has animals and a play area- all well maintained. There are also many other attractions close by. The beauty of this place lies not only in the idyllic surroundings and immaculately kept cottages and grounds, but also in the kind and friendly owners, John and Ann. Their assistant Will is most helpful and welcoming too. If you want to spend quality family time in a relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, this is the ideal place!
We stayed in Crazy Well for 4 nights over Christmas having booked fairly last-minute after hunting around for the right place. We were greeted on arrival by Will who showed us around, whilst John was very helpful in ensuring our delivery of meat for Christmas lunch arrived safely. The cottage was immaculate and very well equipped. Often self-catering accommodation is lacking in the range and quality of, for instance, kitchen equipment but there was nothing at all lacking. Even a supply of herbs and (crucially, on 25th December) flour was available along with a range of games at the reception lodge. Excellent quality linen, limitless hot water, decent wifi (not shared with other cottages which is a presumably costly but very useful touch), 2 smart TVs, large quantites of crockery and glassware; the list goes on. The kids loved the warm swimming pool, the outdoor play equipment and the animals, whilst we loved the 10 minute stroll to the local pub.
Overall a fantastic experience and a great location for a break in Devon
We stayed at the crazy well cottage in Feb on a Mon - Fri break. We being two adults and two children aged 5 and 4 months. On arrival in the cottage there were fresh chocolate muffins on the kitchen table which was an instant hit with all of us after a long car journey a nice little touch we thought. This theme carried on through the cottage with foot stools around the cottage and plastic cups forks etc ideal for little guests. Outside there is enough room to keep the little ones busy with new trampolines and being able to help feed the animals in the mornings if you wish. Swimming pool was warm, clean and open until 9pm, we had it to ourselves each time we went. The farm is in a central location with lots to do in the area also the beaches are not far away. If you need a soft play centre on a rainy day for little ones we found the "Play Cafe" in Torquay free wifi, good food and clean. Staff and owners of Compton Pool Farm are very welcoming ,they're there if you need them but not watching your every move which it can feel like sometimes in Holiday cottages. Overall, a lovely holiday and ideal for families.
